In Platos account of dialogue between his old friend Crito and Socrates, Crito was trying to urge Socrates that he should escape the prison. However, Socrates had a morally just mind. He explained to Crito, But why my dear, Crito should we care about the opinion of the umpteen? Good men, and they are the only persons who are worth considering, provide consider these things truly as they happened (Page 3). He explained that the opinions of people were unsuitable because they will not believe the truth either way. Morally, Socrates had a sense of integrity and he knows that no matter what the rescript believes he did what was right.
Furthermore, not only did Socrates have good morals, but also he was obedient.
Socrates accepted his death sentence because it was the law. He had to abide by the state and the sentence that was given to him. No matter how immoral his sentence was he was still chthonic the law. Socrates would neither be wrong or right by going against the law. He would not be wrong because morally, Socrates was not a criminal and did not commit and real offense. He would not be right, as he explains because would be prison-breaking the law. It is the lesser of two evils. At the end of this dialogue he expresses to Crito, Let me follow the intimations of the will of God (Page 10).
