It usually consisted of a donjon and curtain wall, even two or more walls. The second wall was lower than the first, allowing archers to drop from both walls and fire upon attackers. The tower also consisted of round towers, large moats, and gatekeeps. If the first tower was destroyed, the attacker was still faced with a whole other complete castle. If the castle were constructed properly, it would be invincible. Edward I built a majority of the castles to put down the Welsh rebellions (Remfry 2). Some of there meat was pork, beef, mutton, poultry, and game. When the boiling meat was ready it was lifted out of the pot with an iron meat hook, a long fork with a wooden handle and prongs attached to the side. The soup was stirred with a long-handled slotted spoon. Salting or smoking preserved the meat. Most common was to keep the meat alive int’l ready for use. On fast days they served fish (Gies, 113). The lords had to use hunting as a way of life. At dawn on summer days the lords, his household, and quest would go into the forest while the huntsman, a professional and regular member of the lord’s staff would hunt the deer down with their dogs. There were three kinds of dogs: the lymer, a bloodhound, bachet, and a gray hound. The bloodhound was kept on a leash an d used to finish off the prey at bay. The bachet was a smaller hound and a gray hound was larger than the modern breed and capable of killing a deer on its own. When the animal was brought to the bay it was usually beheaded. Sometimes they would use bow and arrow to kill. Skinning and dividing up the meat, including the hound’s share (Gies 125) followed the kill. A meal would also include beer. The lords and there acquaintances love to drink beer (Quenells 43). Dinner would be served between 10:00 a.m. and noon. The dinner consisted of two or three courses each served in separate dishes. All of the courses consisted of the same kinds of food except for the last course, which consisted of fruits, nuts, cheese, wafers, and spiced wine. On holidays and weddings a large quantity of food would be served. When HenryIII daughter married there was more than sixty pasture cattle eaten at the first and principal course at the table (Gies, 117). During dinner the quest might be entertai ned with music or jokes, and stories. When dinner was over one of the quest would entertain the company with a song of their own. The way of life lived in these times were very different from how we live things now. Their way of attack then was very brutal and took strong men to pull the job off. Now gun-power is invented so it is easier to defend us from attackers. The lords and ladies were very creative in their ways of doing things. It would have been amazing to live in those times.

John Conrad One of the finest stylist of modern English literature was Joseph Conrad, was a Polish-born English novelist, short story writer, essayist, dramatist, and autobiographer. Conrad was born in 1857 in a Russian-ruled Province of Poland. According to Jocelyn Baines, a literary critic, "Conrad was exiled with his parents to northern Russia in 1863 following his his parents participation in the Polish independence movement". (Baines 34). His parents' health rapidly deteriorated in Russia, and after their deaths in 1868, Conrad lived in the homes of relatives, where he was often ill and received spradic schooling (35). Conrad's birth-given name was Jozef Tedor Konrad Valecz Korzeniowski, however, his name was legally changed (39). Conrad died of a heart attack, August 3, 1924, in Bishopsbourne Kent, England (34). With such an innovative style, Joseph Conrad was perhaps one of Britain's most remarkable authors of modern English literature. Throughout Conrad's career, his works have became influential as well as remarkable. Cited by Ted E. Boyle, a short story analysis, "Conrad's novels are complex moral and psychological examinations of ambiguous nature of good and evil" (Boyle 93). Conrad's characters are repeatedly forced to acknowledge their own failures and the weakness of their ideals against all forms of coruption; the most honorable characters are those who realize their fallibility but still struggle to up hold the dictates of conscience (99). Early in life, Conrad pursued a career as a seaman, sailing to Martinique and the West Indies. In 1894, he began a career as a writer, basing much of his work on his experience as a seaman (100). Throughout his career, "Conrad examined the impossibility of living by a traditional code of conduct". His novels "postulate that the complexity of the human spirit allows neither absolute fidelity to any ideal nor even to one's conscience" (Baines 49). Conrad's work failure is a fact of human existence, and every ideal contains the possibilities for its own conniption (Boyle 34). Most of Conrad's greatest works take place on a ship or in the backwaters of civilization. After assessing Conrad's works, Douglas Hewitt, a renown critic, claimed that " a ship or a small outpost offered an isolated environment where Conrad could develop his already complex moral problems without unnecessary entanglements that might obscure the concentration of tragedy". Nostromo is widely recognized as Conrad's most ambitious novel. An account of a revolution in the fictitious South American country of Costaguana, Nostromo examines the ideals, motivations, and failures of several participants in that confict (Hewitt 60). Conrad himself referred to "Nostromo" as his "largest canvas", and many critics consider the novel as one of the greatest in twentieth century (Boyle 90). Conrad's current reputation rests with such relatively early works a "Lordd Jim", "Heart of Darkness", and "Nostromo", in which imagery, symbolism, and shifts in time and perspective combine to create an intriguing, mystical series of fictional settings. The two greatest examples of moral tragedy in his work are "Lord Jim" (1900), which "examines the failures of a man before society and his own conscience, and "Heart of Darkness" (1899), "a dreamlike tale of mystery and adventure set in central Africa that is also the story of a man's symbolic journey into his own inner being" (Hewitt 68). The 1993 Storm of the Century The blizzard of March 12 to 14, 1993 remains one of the worst U.S. snowstorms since the Great Blizzard of 1888, and its no surprise, considering that the storm stretched from Cuba to Nova Scotia, Canada, affected 100 million people across 26 states, and caused $6.65 billion in damage. By the storms end, 310 fatalities had been reported, more than three times the number of lives lost during Hurricanes Andrew and Hugo combined. Storm Origin and Track On the morning of March 11, a strong ridge of high pressure sat just offshore the U.S. west coast. Its position oriented the jet stream so that it plunged south out of the Arctic, allowing unseasonably cold air to flow into the U.S. east of the Rocky Mountains. Meanwhile, a low-pressure system was developing near Brownsville, TX. Fed by a number of upper air disturbances, energy from jet stream winds, and moisture from the north-central Gulf of Mexico, the low began to rapidly strengthen. The storms center traveled near Tallahassee, FL, in the pre-dawn hours of March 13. It continued north-northeastward, centering over southern Georgia near mid-day and over New England that evening. Quick Sprout found that  Facebook pages with smaller amounts of followers should post about 16–30 times a month, or roughly  once every day or two. If you have a bigger fan base, Neil Patel suggests posting at least 31 times a month, which he says is about once or twice a day. Mari Smith recommends  5–6 Facebook posts per week. And some good advice: Skip weekdays if you have to, but not weekend days since Facebook users tend to be active on the weekends and in the evenings. Social Media Week recommends posting 5-10 times a week. That evens out to around one or two posts per business day. Adobe suggests posting 6-11 times per week. LocalVox recommends tweeting a maximum of five tweets per  day while maintaining a minimum of five tweets a week. Nulou says to  tweet at least five times a week with no maximum. Quick Sprout found that the most retweets happen within an hour after tweeting, so a higher daily frequency is best. Start by tweeting 5–20 times every day. Writing for Forbes, Neil Patel suggests tweet frequency should be tied to your goals. If you want maximum engagement per tweet, aim for 1-5 tweets per day. However, if you want more total responses to your tweets overall, 50 tweets or more are acceptable. Mari Smith's sweet spot is between 6–7 tweets per day on weekdays, and 3–4 tweets a day on weekends. Abobe recommends just 3 tweets per day. For larger enterprises and major brands, this less is more approach may be the way to go. Social Media Week offers up a similar suggestion, stating that 3-5 tweets per day is the sweet spot. DowSocial recommends sharing daily to LinkedIn, but doesn't provide a  solid number. They suggest that daily shares keep your followers in the loop, but not overwhelmed. From the time of Lincoln’s inauguration in 1860 to the final withdrawal of union troops from the South in 1877, the nation of America had been one of great revolutions. There was constant development in this time both socially and constitutionally. For instance, some constitutional developments that irrupted conflict were the secession of the confederate states, the Emancipation Proclamation, the three civil rights bills, and the reconstruction. Some social developments that caused conflict were the Freedmen’s Bureau, the Black Codes, and the Ku Klux Klan. It was a result of these developments that the Revolutions of the Civil War, Reconstruction, and the Redeemers would take place. The great change these revolutions brought about were vital in the development of this country One of the constitutional developments that caused a revolution during this time frame, had to do with the South Carolina Declaration of Causes of Secession, which is stated in Document A. The southerners felt that it was their constitutional right to own slaves and did not see a time when they should be required to give up that right. However, upon the election of Lincoln as President, the southerners felt threatened, and felt their slave holding rights were being threatened, and in an effort to protect these rights they chose to secede from the union. This action angered the President and many Republicans because they believed that it was unconstitutional for a state to secede. Senator John Sherman on the other hand believed that they gave the states too much power and rights in government that this is the reason the government being overthrown. One of the social developments that caused a revolution was the Freedmen’s Bureau. The Freedmen’s Bureau was supposed to give Homesteads to the freed slaves, but they failed to keep their promise, as stated in Document E. In document I the picture shows that even thought the freedmen were given freedom after the Civil, other groups such as the White League and the KKK still tried to suppress their rights as human citizens. For instance, the KKK would burn black-owned buildings and murder freedman to them from exercising their voting rights. Another development that caused a revolution was the Reconstruction Act.  Looking at Document F you can see that Senator Lot Morrill thinks that the Civil Rights Act of 1866 is revolutionary. But he was furious because there was already a revolution taking place and nobody knew or cared. The speech brought up many questions about what had to be fixed and what kind of revolution would occur. These are the many developments that brought on a revolution that helped or hurt the country.
