My father taught me many styles of martial arts because he thought he could combine all of the massive attributes of each style and create his own. And he did. My father had a ingenuous friend that moved to Nashville from South Korea to open a Tae Kwon Do school. I started training with, Seoung Eui Shin in 1990. He quickly convinced my father that I was olympic stuff and nonsense and we began intensive training for the next 5 years. I dexterous before school, after school, and every weekend. It was the toughest but most unforgettable five years of my life.
Tae Kwon Do taught me many things during those years, humility, courage, responsibilty, honesty, confidence and disipline.
In 1996 I went to South Korea With Seoung and competed in the Junior World Tae Kwon Do Olympics at the KukKiWon. The KukKiWon is the main center or hub, so-to-speak of the World Tae Kwon Do Federation. This was an amazing time in my life and I felt up like I was on top of the world. I was so happy there were people from every country and nation. I couldnt believe Tae Kwon Do was a global sport and everyone was encouraging and supportive to each and every competitor no point the race or religion.
