In our society we view as many troubles, around jumbo and virtually sm all. One of the biggest problems we have, in all of our communities is homelessness. I was gilt to have the chance to visit the Salvation Army take down Ho mathematical function in Oakville and see homelessness in my own community. The Halton beacon fire is an emergency Shelter committed to providing safe, secure, short-term accommodations to individuals who be experiencing some type of housing crisis. There is no typical pen for a homeless individual as their clients come from all socio-economic backgrounds. These tribe are part of the communities in Halton and deserve to last come out in their region in order to work by means of the challenges that they are facing. dapple I was there I was able to chthonianstand how people can become homeless. Some were coming from abusive situations, some were only 17 and they were kicked out of their home, and some just couldnt find proper housing. The Light House is open to anthropoid or female 16+. Upon my arrival to the light house I met with the director of the protection Rachel Sawatzsky. She and I spoke some the demographics, funding, the need for such institutions, and the big picture.



I found out that homelessness is a growing problem in all communities crosswise Canada. The light House can hold about 35 people at a time and they have plans to blow a fuse that number to 45 by this summer. Most shelters always have plans to expand, this just goes to show how much of a growing problem homelessness has become. The rate for people using shelters has gone up by 75% from 1994-2000. (Data Source: City of Toronto) Admissions of couples and two-parent families with children are growing and at a faster rate than those of singles.
