Vietnam was a tumultuous point of strife for more than 100 years of the 19th and 20th centuries. In the 1860s, France had completely taken everywhere Vietnam. As the communistic party gained influence in Vietnam during the late forties and early fifties, at the beginning of the Cold War, the people of the United States were extremely worried about the threat of communism spreading to Southeast Asia. The Cold War dockets of the major world superpowers made Vietnam a major point of conflict because of the widespread hate of Communism in the United States, the pro-communism agenda of the Soviet Union, and both of their interest in Vietnam.
As in most colonized places, the Vietnamese people were oppressed and hard-boiled as second class citizens. There was a precise small group of people that benefitted from colonization, while well over ninety percent of the population suffered. The French and few Vietnamese who prospered under French rule were wealthy and the peasants had nothing. The poor peasants were force to work for the French government and didnt have large food for themselves.



The people of Vietnam indispensabilityed a better carcass in which they would all have enough. Naturally, communism appealed to them because it would ensure that everybody would be able to feed their family.
