The focus of our clinical assignment this week was assessing the nutritional status of a persevering. The sound judgement tools that I used were mini Nutritional Assessment(Vellas, Villas, & Abellan 2001) and the Geriatric depression Scale (Yesavage et al 1983). During the conviction of the assessment the tolerant was sitting out in a living area. I asked if it was okay to do the assessments in this open area, he was okay with this.
The patient was an 85 year venerable male who lives with his wife in an apartment. He was admitted by a 302 approximately three weeks ago. The Minin Nutritional assessment was done in a public area. Doing any type of verbal assessment with this patient proved difficult since the patient was very hard of tryout and refused to wear hearing aids. The first part of the assessment complicated a blanket section to determine if the full assessment was needed.



The first brain was if the patients food inhalation has declined over the past 3 months and he give tongue to it has not. The neighboring question asked if the patient lost weight over the cobblers detain 3 months, which he stated he did not. The third question involved questioning how mobile the patient was, the patient stated he is able to walk with little difficulty and makes nonchalant trips to the grocery store. The fourth question asked if the patient has had any psychological stress or acute disease in the last three months, the patient has suffered from this over the past 3 months. The patient had no neuropsychological problems, this was the fifth question. The final part of the screening involved calculating the patients BMI which was 26.4.
